All Are Family Outreach (AAFO): Heroes in Our Valley

We've shared a lot of great things about this beautiful valley we call home. There's plenty to love. But like almost every other region, the Okanagan is home to many amazing people who struggle to get by. That's why the staff at Beelineweb often seek and welcome opportunities to give back. Recently, everyone on our team contributed generously to a local organization that helps people in our communities who are in desperate need. With matching funds from Beelineweb, our staff's extraordinary donation to All Are Family Outreach (AAFO) means that some of our region's disadvantaged seniors, homeless individuals, and families with young children will experience a little more joy, warmth, and stability this holiday season.

AAFO is a nonprofit, non-denominational, 100-percent volunteer-run organization with a mission to help people from Armstrong to West Kelowna who are in desperate situations. AAFO provides help in any way it can, with whatever resources it has available. All donations go directly to the people who need them. There's a year-round need for food, blankets, coats, socks, toiletries, and other items used for day-to-day living.

Would you like to help this incredible organization? We can't say enough good things about the volunteers who run it. AAFO welcomes financial contributions as well as physical donations. They are headquartered in Lake Country at 11370 Bottom Wood Lake Road (at the back of the Seventh Day Adventist church). You can also donate physical items at drop spots in Armstrong, Vernon, Winfield, Kelowna, and West Kelowna. Check out AAFO's Facebook page for all the latest details.

8 Years!

This week we are thankful for our very talented Director of Creative Content, Luke Redd, who has officially been with Beelineweb for 8 years now!
Luke was hired as our Director of Creative Content for his mad writing skills, and is responsible for a large portion of the writing on all of our web sites, including Beelineweb.com, Trade-Schools.net, Trade-Schools.ca, VocationalSchools.ca, GreatSeniorLiving.com, and more! Not only is Luke a word wizard, he also has his graphic design degree from The Art Institutes and has been responsible for most of the design work on our web sites, as well as all our branded material, such as our trade show booth and conference swag that many of our clients have.
Thanks for sticking with us for 8 years, Luke, we are lucky to have you!

Cops for Kids Annual Ride

Today marks the day that Cops for Kids start their 1000 km, 10-day bike ride from Kelowna, British Columbia, across BC to raise money for kids in need! Cops for Kids is a charity, established in 2001, that works to help children in need, by continually fundraising to raise money for those in need.

This year there are 28 participating RCMP officers riding in the annual Cops for Kids Ride!  Beelineweb.com is proud to have contributed $500 to sponsor Gail Harrison, from our own Lake Country RCMP, to help her meet her goal of raising $15,000.  This is Gail’s 12th year participating in the annual Cops for Kids Ride, and she herself is a Nana to 8 grand kids!

Please visit Gail’s Raiseathon page to donate today, or check out their main donation page to do your part in helping local kids who need help the most.  The fundraiser ends on December 31st, 2017, so there is plenty time to donate!

The Okanagan Rail Trail Project!

Photo Cred: Wade McGaghey

When you know something amazing is on the horizon, it's hard to wait. So with the development of the Okanagan Rail Trail underway, we wanted to do our part to help ensure it gets completed sooner rather than later. Beelineweb.com is now one of many community members to help fund construction of the trail. Our donation will support the development of a 10-metre section, and we couldn't be more excited to be part of the incredible effort by our communities to make it all happen.

After all, when a generous individual like George Galbraith, a Vernon resident, donates $150,000 to the cause and matches additional donations up to that same amount, it's easy to get into the spirit. Several generations of Okanagan residents have already helped make this valley special. Now we get to help add to their legacy.

Once the nearly 50-kilometre trail is completed, people of every age will be able to safely walk, run, or bike along a mostly level path from Kelowna to Vernon. It will be a major amenity for our communities, providing great benefits such as:

  • Support for active and healthy lifestyles
  • Free fun for families
  • Easy access to more than 24 kilometres of natural areas, including lakes and creeks
  • Easy access to several parks and points of cultural interest

Want to Make Your Own Donation?

The Okanagan Rail Trail project still needs more funding for its final stage. With your help, this project will move a little closer to completion. Then, we can all benefit from one of the most extraordinary amenities our valley has ever had. Make a donation online and receive a charitable tax receipt!

Extended Long Weekends

Another beautiful long weekend is upon us, and once again we will be closing our office an additional day, to make a 4-day weekend!

As often as possible, we try to extend long weekends, and give everyone an additional day off (with pay!), so that they can get a nice break from work to do whatever feeds their soul. We believe that the 4 days allow for good restoration and rejuvenation – giving people the opportunity to do things with their long weekend that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to!

We hope that everyone has a wonderful and safe long weekend doing what they love, with those they love!
